Hardware Blitter on PS1 game running with PS3

It's nice to have PS1 game running in full HD (1080p) with PS3, even though the picture becomes pixelated. But I found that in one of my PS1 games, the game run with hardware blitter effect turned on. This occurred with japanese FFVIII game. Filtering effect is turned off but did not remove the hardware blitter effect. Could it be the hidden feature that embedded in PS1 emulator that available in PS3 or it control by game application? I'll try to add screenshot later on to give picture by picture comparison.

Singapore PS3 NTSC-J and 576i/p

Bought Singapore version of PS3, it has NTSC-J code and region 3 logo on the box. Looked from the code, I was expecting the PS3 has SD resolution of 480i/p (hongkong version has 480i/p). However when I looked in the display setting, 480i/p is not available instead of 576i/p, which mean this PS3 only support NTSC format for PS2 games and as for PS3 game it runs in PAL resolution (apart from 720p and 1080i/p). I was expecting that the firmware update could change the default SD resolution to 480i/p because all asian version PS3 games uses 480i/p as SD resolution.
